In the mid of 2016, Mr. Rodney Kinson contacted us to create a word mark logo for his blog. Personally he likes baking in his spare time. So he wanted to incorporate that baking passion in the logo. At start we researched on possible ideas based on what we could move further. On our first meeting we asked Rodney to give us some references that he liked most. We also read through his blog so that our designers could know his business very well. Since Logo itself represents the essence of business or organization, so it must be very unique in design. A logo should not be ambiguous so that people find it difficult to inter-relate the logo with the company to what it belongs. That’s why designers in Symbolsense always invest their professional attention in researching best unique concepts.
We started our journey by gathering all the elements related to backing. Based on that we illustrated concepts using paper & pencil. Efforts were given to make sure that each concept look distinctive besides being minimal.
Seeing the concepts client became overwhelmed. He was fond of two concepts. So he discussed with marketing team for better decision. They discovered that the concept (cupcake) from third row second column was close to their expectation, though they wanted to see both cupcake concepts in vector. Mr. Rodney also provided us images of different cupcakes that we should follow while designing.
Designers were instructed to try Arial Bold, Helvetica Bold, Avenir Bold fonts to see which worked better for word mark style. But when we saw that none of the fonts working fine then we decided to customize the letters manually. Because the bottom part of cup cakes is generally taller & the top part is generally much inflated.
Having the outline ready, the draft then was moved to art board for vectorizing. We used Adobe Illustrator for that purpose. The volume of each letter & the space among them were scaled in equal size so that the logo looks harmonic. Sometimes things become time consuming because of its distinctive simplicity and that is what happened with our project. The paths were joined, elements were grouped for a solid shape.
At this stage our cap cakes were ready. Client was then interested to see the cup cakes having cherry, cream & sprinkles respectively on top of three variations. We know what a competitive unique logo matters to a client as well as to entire business. So we sketched every possible way to give exact shape what Mr. Rodney was looking for.
By this far client realized that our team had been showing great effort to design this logo after so many modifications. Finally he selected design two (cup cake having sprinkles) among three variations delivered by us.
The whole design journey proved the importance of research & tons of tiny modifications for a successful distinctive logo. Having idea about other competitors of same business is also very crucial for primary ideas among which one idea gets the unique creative look. These are the reasons why clients around the world think us for their valuable logo works.
